Colony Building

Over the last few weeks in technology lessons, you have been investigating the first fleet database to find information about different convicts. You were asked to find some convicts that you would pardon so that they could be of use to you in the colony.
You were looking for convicts that could be very useful to the new colony - in other words - convicts that had good skills.

I would like to know:
Which convicts would you choose?
Why would you want to use their skills?
Do you think they would be a threat to you - were they dangerous convicts?

Looking forward to seeing your comments!

The person I am choosing is James Ruse because he is a farmer. Why would I choose him is that he can look after the animals and provide the health when they need it. The other reason is that they con plant crops so people can eat. Also James Ruse is 28 years old and he might stick around for a while. This convict will not be a threat or be dangerous.

The person I am choosing to help my colony is Samuel Wheeler because he is a brick maker. I would choose because he’s skill is making houses for other people. He’s got a talent of bricks and he can make tiles for people to stand on so they don’t rather stand on grass. Also Samuel wheeler is not going to be dangerous or not be a threat. He is also 28 years old.

I have chose john Hudson because he can clean other people’s chimneys and sweep them out. He is also aged 13 years old. As you can see from his name he is a young male. I also would say that he is not dangerous and he would not do a threat because he is a young boy.

If I was in charge of pardoning I would pardon some one who did not convict much of a crime in England and none in Australia (New Holland). Also in Australia he was not troublesome at the time. Such as John king who was a Brick Maker, james Ruse and Ann Powell who was a Charwomen. I think that they are not a threat.
